Portrait of a Young Lady is short documentary video piece by Nadia Armstrong, exploring voyeurism and observation through documenting the features of three young women. The result is a study in observation without objectification; the subjects stare back at the judging public eye.
The three girls in the film appear unbothered by the camera yet not ignorant of it. Modern feminism is about accepting and respecting the choices women make in their own lives. It is a paradoxical battle that is both for and against beauty, however, it does point out that unity can be found in both similarity and in difference.
