TIMEKEEPERS (2021)
TIMEKEEPERS (2021, 13 mins duration) is a video piece that uses found footage, digital editing techniques and references to Western pop culture to identify nodes of cultural chaos that have arisen from consumer culture and the posthuman condition. It presents copyright free stock footage, play throughs from first person video games and pop music as episodic assemblages that depict the extortion of attention and our insensibility towards climate catastrophe. This piece was developed out of research that began in a seminar during the first year of the MFA programme, titled “To Be Heard, the Politics of Participation,” and explores the idea of public voices and spectacle within entertainment and everyday life.
